Ride the catwalk! - bicycle street fashion show and international Cycle Chic activities

Cyclechic.hu and  Street Fashion Budapest are seeking for the most stylish and unique cyclists of Budapest. In the last 6 years cycling has not only become an easy and feasible way of transportation but a fashion statement as well. Bicycle is part of our everyday life, a tool which adds to one’s own style. On 22nd September, the city’s official Car-free Day on the Andrassy Boulevard’s new cycle lane will feature a fashion show which celebrates the latest trends on bikes.

RIDE THE CATWALK! is a campaign which asks Budapest residents to upload or send pictures about themselves on a bicycle. The three weeks long campaign contains several street photo shoots and ends up on 16th September when an international jury chooses the most stylish Budapesters to be the models of the fashion show from the album on our facebook page. Winners will get two plane tickets to Copenhagen, appearance in the next Fashion Issue magazine with presents from the publisher and a MuyMuy bag made of recycled bike parts.

The members of the jury will be:

  • Luu Anh Tuan (fashion designer, ANH TUAN)
  • Bianka Bujdosó (blogger, OurFashion.blog.hu)
  • Linda Fogt (blogger, cyclechic.hu)
  • András Hajdu (photographer, Én és a biciklim)
  • Dóra Kolontai (stylist, Glamour magazine)
  • Ildikó Simonovics (curator, Street Fashion Budapest)
  • Péter Szűcs (editor-in-chief, Fashion Issue magazine)
  • Attila Till (celebrity)
  • Mikael Colville- Andersen (founder of Copenhagencyclechic.com, one of The Guardian’s TOP10 fashion blogger)

The campaign is part of European Mobility Week in Budapest programmes by Center for Budapest Transport (BKK). Cyclechic.hu thanks Hungarian Cyclists' Club for their help.

The fashion show will be followed by an afterparty in one of Budapest’s newest and chic night club, Ankert which is a few steps away from the venue. SFB's street fashion album will be presented and available to buy here. The afterparty at Ankert (Paulay Ede str.) will then go on by famous dj’s (TMX, Brandon) playing.

Cycle Chic bloggers from different countries, including Danish cycling ambassador Mikael Colville-Andersen and Mary Embry- Hudson from Copenhagen with bloggers from Amsterdam, Vitória (Brazil), and Vienna will attend the events, such as the bicycle breakfast on Friday, the official opening ceremony of the annual Bike to Work! campaign by the Hungarian Cyclists’ Club. Other programmes are also organised for this weekend and the Car Free Day by the HCC. One lucky morning-cyclists may win an annual membership of the Hungarian Cyclists' Club.

A bicikli nem egyszerűen közlekedési eszköz, hanem egy igazi stíluselem. Nem kér kompromisszumot, nem kell hozzá öltözni, hiszen maga öltöztet. És még a városokat is jobbá teszi.
